Students Travel to the spring 2017 NCAS Annual Meeting

Faculty member Jeff Holmes mentored 6 students in navigating and presenting their senior capstone at the 2017 Annual meeting of the North Carolina Academy of Science hosted at High Point University on March 24-25 . The student attendees included Georgia Ackerman, Meagen Lee, Emma Lightsey, Larissa Robinov, Zach Petrie, and Liane Ventura . Two  students were declared CANCAS Derieux Award Winners for outstanding undergraduate research presentation.

2nd place in Ecology and Behaviorial Science – Zach Petrie – Effects of Powerlines on Magnetoreception in Notophthalmus viridescens.

3rd place in the category Health Science, Biotechnology, and Engineering – Emma Lightsey – Detection of Rabies Antibodies in Wolf-Dog Hybrid Sera.
